After-care following an operation (adults)
You will be given antibiotics and enough pain-killers to take home with you.
- You must take the antibiotics, but it is up to you whether you take any pain-killers or not.
- After 3-4 days you may begin to take a daily shower once more. Please use only normal soap, not creaming shower products. Afterwards, stick a fresh plaster over the cut/s, or use a spray plaster agent (depending on which operation you’ve had).
- We normally use self-dissolving threads, meaning in all likelihood none will have to be removed. We will inform you if we used a type that needs to be removed in your case.
- Depending on the procedure, you should refrain from doing sport or having sex for between 2-5 weeks after the operation.
- You should refrain from smoking for 5 weeks as this has a detrimental effect on the healing process in general.
- Please do not expose the operated areas to intensive sunbathing (or sun beds), as this could result in pigmentation disorders (uneven colouring) to the skin.
- We will supply you with the relevant aftercare information.
